My Daddy's Common Sense

Is common sense no more?

Public Sector vs. Private Sector

Since the 2008 election, the public sector, or government jobs, has expanded by some 140,000 jobs. That would be a very large company by any standards. It has been published that the average salary for government employees is $77,000 and the same job in the private sector is $52,000.  Hmm, Hmm, that is a pretty good spread!

For the sake of this example, let’s say, the public sector is $80,000 and the private sector is $55,000, just to work in round numbers. Here we go:   A.  We hire person “X” in the public sector (gov. job) and we will pay him $80,000; and for the sake of argument, let’s say he is in the 20 percent tax range, which may be high, but let’s say. Under that example the person would pay $16,000 in taxes, leaving a $64,000 drain on the US economy.  B.  Now lets hire that same person “X” in the private sector and we will pay him $55,000, and let’s assume he also is in the same 20 percent tax range, which may be high, but let’s just say. Under this example the person would pay $11,000 in taxes, thereby being a positive in cash flow for the US economy.

Simply by hiring more government employees instead of private sector employees, we go from an $11,000 profit to the Government to a $64,000 liability. That is a $75,000 turn around at the end result. Any idiot can stand on the corner and give money away as the Government is doing; but, it takes some real skill to manage and hire people, produce a product and sell it at a profit. Should I mention here that might be called Common Sense?

It just makes my blood boil to think that we could have an $11,000 asset, but instead opt for a $64,000 liability. Remember, that has been done 140,000 times since President Obama assumed the responsibility for the hiring and firing.

If you aren’t smart enough to follow this, then please break it down to how much money you have in your pocket now vs. back then, and vote accordingly using “Common Sense“.

Disclaimer: This is for example purposes only. My Daddy never claimed to ba a great mathematician, just a common man with Common Sense.

If You Show Me Yours, I’ll Show You Mine….

I am amazed at the Democrats that say Gov. Romney is hiding something in his tax returns. Let me take a look at this from a “Common Sense” angle.

Did the IRS have a problem with the Governors returns? I haven’t heard anything even approaching a slight mistake. If the IRS looked, and you know they have, but found no problem; then, it is no one else’s business. Even if the IRS found problems, does that disqualify him from running? Not in the eyes of Democrats…remember “Tax Cheat” Geithner now Treasury Secretary.

Believe, you me, no one at that level does their own tax returns. Do you believe, in an instant, that Michelle and Barrack sit around the kitchen table in the White House figuring out their deductions? If so, then I need to quit this “Common Sense” stuff, ’cause you are completely lacking even a trace!

Secondly, Obama has never released his transcripts or thesis from college. They have spent several million on lawyers and such to hide all that from the public. What are they hiding?? Also, Obama has asserted “Executive Privilege” on the Fast and Furious documents. What are they hiding???

Lastly, Governor Romney should assert “Executive Privilege” and express how he is more of an executive than Obama ever was, or will be, and it is his privilege to withhold the returns. It is only Common Sense that if one has to release information, the other has to release information.

Oh, isn’t Common Sense great!!

Walmart–Please help America

The following should be read by all Americans….Democrats, Republicans, etc.

Wal-Mart gets it done:

Americans spend $36,000,000 at Wal-Mart every hour of every day. ~ This works out to $20,928 profit every minute. ~ Wal-Mart will sell more from January 1 to March 17 than Target sells all year. ~ Wal-Mart is bigger than Home Depot, Kroger, Target, Sears, Costco, and K-mart combined. ~ Wal-Mart employs 2.1 million people, is the world’s largest private employer, and most speak English. ~ The only entity with more employees is the U.S. Government. ~ Wal-Mart is the largest company in the history of the world. ~ Wal-Mart now sells more food than Kroger and Safeway combined, and keep in mind they did this in only fifteen years. ~ During this same period, 31 big supermarket chains sought bankruptcy. ~ Wal-Mart now sells more food than any other store in the world. ~ Wal-Mart has approximately 3900 stores in the USA of which 1906 are Super Centers; this is 1000 more than it had five years ago. ~ This year 7.2 billion different purchasing experiences will occur at Wal-Mart stores (Earth’s population is approximately 6.5 billion). ~ 90% of all Americans live within fifteen miles of a Wal-Mart.

The Government does not get it done:

The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775….237 years to get it right and it is broke. (UPS is thriving!) ~ Social Security was established in 1935…. 77 years to get it right and it is broke. ~ Fannie Mae was established in 1938…74 years to get it right and it is broke. ~ War on Poverty started in 1964, 47 years to get it right, $1 trillion of our money has been confiscated each year, transferred to the poor and they only want more. ~ Freddie Mac was established in 1970….42 years to get it right and it is broke. ~ The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before….35 years to get it right and it is a failure. ~ Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965…47 years to get it right and they are broke. And then they want us to believe they can be trusted with a government-run health care system?

The government has failed in every “government service” that has been shoved down our throats, while overspending our tax dollars.  Please tell me what is wrong with the people who run this country. If they, our duly elected, would read this they would know how Americans feel.  We are BROKE and can’t help our own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, Homeless, etc. But yet, we can provide billions in aid to countries like Haiti, Chile, Turkey, and Pakistan (previous home of Bin Laden.) Imagine if the Government gave the U.S. the same support they give to other countries! Sad, isn’t it?

After all this, it only makes “Common Sense” to say to President Obama and our government leaders: “YOU ARE MORONS”.

Disclaimer:  The above is something I ran across which relates to Common Sense and thought I would pass on to my readers.

Media Bias is Bad, Media Exclusion is Horrible

There is no doubt that media bias exists as some 80 percent of the mainstream journalists vote democratic. Common Sense says that you probably won’t get a balanced approach to a story, if “you can get a story at all.”  Thus, media exclusion, the fact that the old guard of NBC, ABC and CBS will not cover a story if it sheds a hard bright light on the subject, thus, making the Dem’s look bad.

Recently, CBS President, Les Moonves, was quizzed about his attending a Democratic Fund Raiser. He said  “Ultimately, journalism has changed … partisanship is very much a part of journalism now.”  It is, but it really shouldn’t be. Just give me the facts and I will decide for myself…common sense!

A reporter, Sharyl Attkinson, recently reported on what Congress held meetings/hearings on “Fast and Furious”. She did such a great job that she received an award from a conservative group and guess what, CBS would not allow her to accept the award. Now again, that alone is enough to tell you that Common Sense says CBS is nothing but a shell of a journalist outfit.

Please, if you are getting your info from NBC, ABC or CBS, do yourself a favor and stop wasting your time because they will keep you misinformed if informed at all. You will truly remain in the dark if you continue to use them as your news source. Walk out of the dark towards the light of Fox News, etc. and become an enlightened voter. It only makes “Common Sense” to do so.

No Obama Care, Just Obama Tax

1. We are now going to endure Obama Care, or is it Obama Tax, and be force-fed to buy or be taxed.

2. The plan will cover approximately 10 million more people without the addition of any new doctors.

3. The plan will add approximately 15,000 new IRS employees.

4. The Plan was passed by a Congress that has not read the bill to date (remember the Pelosi’s quote..”we must pass the bill to find out what is in it”).

5. The funding will be controlled by a Treasury Chief who is a tax cheat.

6. We will be taxed for four years before any benefits become available.

7. It will be administered by a government that has bankrupted Social Security and Medicare.

Has anyone told them – “we are broke!” Would you go out to find someone to finance your new business venture that was BROKE, or already running in the RED?

None of this makes any Common Sense, but remember I told you this “Common Sense is in short supply” and is almost nonexistent in Washington, DC.

So, go through this list once more and try to find any Common Sense in any of these approaches; and if you can justify any phrase, please post a comment.

Voters to be Photographed

Today, the State of Texas will be in court arguing against the U.S. Government as to whether it is constitutional for Texas, or any state, to require a photo ID to enable a person to vote. Please note that I did not limit this to illegal aliens. I would think all U.S. Citizens would be for this as a way to keep our elections honest.

I have, for years, been asked to prove who I am when voting. Requirement or not, the photo ID that I present is a valid Texas driver’s license. If it is good enough for me, then I just expect everyone else would feel the same– Common Sense!

If you do not have a driver’s license, the state will issue you a photo ID card at no charge. “This is the only thing free that the illegals have ever turned down.” They want free school lunches, social security, free health care, food stamps, etc. (the list goes on and on and on). But for some strange reason, they do not want to show an ID to vote — Maybe, just maybe, it is because if you are here illegally, you have NO right to vote.

The left, or liberal side, thinks it is horrible to make such a request, because it causes undo burden on the illegal. I guess we could photograph them for the ID at one of the places they seem to flock to for the free stuff, thus, no extra trip.

Every time an officer of the law stops me for any reason, even a minor traffic violation, the first two things he asks for are driver license (photo ID) and insurance verification. It makes no common sense for everyone else not to have to do the same.

So here we go, they the illegals holler about discrimination, so let’s treat them just like everyone else and require that they produce the same types of identification that all others in our country produce–a photo ID.

Surely, the Demos can’t complain if we treat everyone the same. But if they do,could it be that they have other motives? — since it makes so much “Common Sense“.

Ripped Off Again

Have you heard the latest?  I know you probably haven’t, so I’ll give it a shot….

ITIN is the new scam for illegal aliens. They apply for the ITIN number so as to pay income and payroll tax–a great thing you say–but they then apply for dependent status for 10 – 12 kids. (Common Sense tells you that there is something “fishy” going on.) Then the IRS doesn’t check on what looks suspiscious…the managers at the IRS refuse to allow their people to check out the fraud. So, the illegal alien gets all their money back, plus extra from you and I in the form of returns. What a great country!

It makes no common sense, but here we go again.

In a nut shell, it’s a scam on the American tax payer. The IRS employees are encouraged to overlook the fraud to the tune of $4 billion in tax refunds, while paying no taxes.  You or I do that and we would be audited, fined and thrown in jail.

Again, it makes no common sense–stop the madness!

The republicans tried to stop it with HR 1956, but the Democrats resisted.

If you would like to read the whole article from which I got this info, go to www.wnd.com/author/cschilling  the article is “And Finally the IRS gets Audited”.  Read for yourself, use your own common sense,  and come up with your own common sense solution to this problem.

Common Sense of Food Stamps….

Here’s a thought….We now have more people on food stamps than ever. For Heaven sakes, the government is advertizing to attract more participants. Please tell me that you see NO Common Sense in that effort. Common sense tells me that we should be trying to limit the program not expand it.

The number of people on food stamps has more than doubled under the Obama administration. Whether you support him or not, you certainly can’t see any common sense in these numbers. The total dollars for the program has way more than doubled; meaning, we the people are spending more to feed these participants than ever. No common sense here either.

Just think about something that I read: as I mentioned, the Welfare Department is placing ads to attract people to the program while the Parks and Wildlife Dept in Yellowstone National Park is putting up signs to say “Do Not Feed The Animals”. The reasoning behind them wanting you to not feed them is it will cause them not to be able to take care of themselves.

Common Sense tells us that if feeding the animals destroys their ability to care for themselves; then the Food Stamp program will do the same for people on it.

Oh, what a wonderful thing, My Daddy’s Common Sense!

What to Expect ….

Common Sense – Now there is something in short supply today! It is, simply, a simple solution to an everyday problem. It is also applicable to very complex problems, if you will just break the problem down. Take small bites, if you will, out of large problems—then, you can eat an elephant one bite at  a time. Common sense can be applied to any situation, political, religious, financial, relationships or business to name a few.

I will, over time, try to expose common sense through this blog on a variety of topics; thus, helping to condition people to use it at will.

Hopefully, the masses can be turned back to yesteryear when common sense was common.

So, stay tuned for example after example of how “My Daddy’s Common Sense” will be applied on all sorts of issues we will face on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
